How much cinnamon is required. I’ve found a tablet that has 1000mg cinnamon along with other herbs and minerals, vitamins. Or is it best just powdered cinnamon if I can find it?

  2. Sue

Or how about a cinnamon liquid extract 1:2 strength - weekly recommended dosage 20-40mL?

  3. Lotty

In one of my newsletters, it is mentioned that the cinnamon in the grocery store is not cinnamon verum, but cinnamon cassia which contains coumarin. Do you know how to detoxify it to remove that and its other toxic trace components?

    Hi Shane,

    You are an inspiration.

Stick it up those big pharma’s.

    Keep up the great work.

    Brett.

Great info as usual! How about a DAILY episode of PC Reality TV? :)

  6. tanya

will this work if you are taking insulin. I use novalog 70/30 mix. I also eat chia oil every day with allows me to take one shot a day instead of two.

Yup, I admit it, as complicated as it was! I was surely spiking my ginger tea with cinnamon after watching PC Realty TV tonight! Tastes good and I felt even BETTER than usual afterwards. Knew this spice was good for ya, but I didn’t know how good.

Our daughter watched and was happy, happy because she could do this, no problemo! She already loves cinnamon & will now probably attempt overdosing on it. Me, too…hehehe!

    BTW, Apples & Tea boxes!?!

    U so crazy!

    Love that. Thanks!

Since coumarin can damage liver, do you recommend limited time usage? With coumarin much greater in Cassia, do you recommend Ceylon?

  9. The People's Chemist

The feedback is MUCH appreciated! Daily…Ouch! I have a hard time with schedules. But they will be consistent! Let me know what topics you are looking for.  Keep rockin’! And Live Young.

All these coumarin concerns concerned me, so I called a well known spice company, and theirs is sourced from cassia, but is considered to contain such a negligable amount that it is considered safe.

What I found interesting from a cited study was how 1gram/day was shown about as effective overall as a 3gm/day & 6gm/day dosage for a sustained 60 day period in reducing blood glucose and blood lipid levels. This study was based on cinnamon sourced from verum. Cassia has also been shown effective at this.

  11. The People's Chemist

All of these coumarin concerns are hogwash. Seriously! Nobody has ever died from the Big Pharma funded threat of naturally occurring coumarin. Yet, diabetic are dropping like flies…And they fear coumarin????

  12. Sara Amidei

How much and what kind of cinnamon will reduce blood sugar and by how much usually. I have been prescribed Metformin 2xday.

  13. Heather

I read that in Germany there was consideration being given to restrictive regulation of cinnamon supplements because of coumarin. Seriously!
Big Pharma has a lot of $$$ to lose if more people would figure out how to prevent & manage diabetes naturally. The coumarin bogeyman is the best shot they got at trying to scare people off from sprinkling cinnamon in their food & beverages.
As for me and my household, we will keep sprinklin away.
I don’t recommend swallowing the whole bottle at once. You might end up with a spicy bum. But if anyone is scared or sensitive to the small amounts of naturally occuring coumarin in certain foods, ceylon has almost none and cassia is about 5%, so pick your preferred cinnamon and just start sprinklin away, as much as you like!
Sara, all kinds of cinnamon have been shown to be effective, daily minimun of 1gm, but more is fine as desired and tolerated.
    Speaking of tolerated…
I found a blog where someone claimed to consume 3 whole bottles of cinnamon per week. Seriously! Of course I was thinking…Are they were full of it…? What in the world would possess someone to use that much cinnamon?

Oh nO! Cinnamon freakenstein blog…Now that’s scary!

What was your reply to Sue regarding using a tablet of 500 mg or 1000 mg instead of powder?

  15. Kristy

    Hi Shane,
    Thanks for the great info.
I think I will make an effort
to add cinnamon to my diet just
    for preventive measures.

Hi. I love your articles. Regarding cinnamon for high glucose. My glucose is high, and I’m taking vitamin supplements to try to control the problem instead of medicine. I’m also taking 140 mg of cinnamon in pill form, twice a day. Do you think it’s better to take the powder cinnamon that’s sold at the store instead of the cinnamon pill, or does it matter?

    Thank you.
    Kim

  17. Val

I tried taking cinnamon capsules, but I got such bad heartburn…

Is there another way to take it?

  18. Gerard Farrell

I started trying the cinnamon after watching Shane’s video. I discontinued my daily 4 x 500mg Glucophage and am getting lower Bg readings with the cinnamon that with the Glucophage. It really works!

I was surprised, however, that Shane didn’t mention the use of Banaba Leaf in the video. He has spoken about the benefit of Banaba before. Surely if we added Banaba to the cinnamon and Green tea we would get even better results? Thanks for sharing the info with us, Shane.
    Gerry

Yep! Just follow the protocol and it works. Thanks everyone for sharing. Gerard, glad it worked for you! Green tea and banaba are great too. But I like to keep it simple. No need to start swallowing a bunch of stuff if you only need one natural cure.

  20. Roxanne

Can the cinnamon be added to the power breakfast?

  21. mki

The Coumarin in Cinnamon do not dissolve well in water. It will dissolve in oil and alcohol according to to German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment article.
So to remove Coumarin from cinnamon the alcohol can be used.
The simplest way probably will be to drink cinnamon tea made of cinnamon bark boil in the water. I that case most Coumarin will stay in bark.
The Ceylon cinnamon probably is the best option.

Hi! What are your thoughts & suggestions for type 1 diabetics on pump therapy. My Dr. said the cinnamon is only helpful for type 2 diabetes. I’ve had type 1 for 30 years (I’m 45) with 3 healthy girls & no complications yet. I’m now about 25 pounds overweight & very frustrated at trying to lose weight. Where do I start?

  23. paul

    also green capsium..
