Wife Freaks Out and Invents The Best Smoothie Recipe
Hi. Its Lea-Ann, wife of The People’s Chemist. I wanted to give you my new smoothie recipe I stumbled on at my figure show last weekend. It was time to eat and I was freakin’ out. I looked in my HUGE food bag I carry everywhere. Magic bullet? Check. Whey Advanced (www.health-fx.net)? Check. Frozen fruit? Where is my frozen fruit? OMG no fruit not even a banana! So this is what I did. I had peanut butter, agave nectar, and whey advanced. I mixed about a cup of water, one tablespoon peanut butter, a scoop of Whey Advanced, one teaspoon agave, and some ice. This – I swear – was the best smoothie I have ever had. Dense with healthy fat, high in protein and amino acids, and sweetened with a natural sweetener that wont spike your fat storing hormone insulin. Try it out and let me know what you think.

Experts disagree and leave us guessing and relying on observation. I’ll go with the idea that coconut oil is great stuff and does not clog up your arteries, as per “Eat Fat, Lose Fat” lipid expert Mary Enig, Phd. What does the people’s chemist think?

I love fat, especially coconut oil. The only dangerous fats are trans fats and the veggie oils loaded with omega-6 fats. There is NO evidence tha saturated fats cause heart disease, NONE! Consider:
The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition recently showed that eating twice as much fat led to greater weight loss. Researchers compared two eating plans that were similar in caloric intake but vastly different in fat consumption. Obese individuals who consumed 61% fat energy for eight weeks lost 18 pounds; those consuming a mere 30% fat lost 14 pounds (they replaced the fat intake with 46% carbs).
Far more staggering than the differences in weight loss are the differences in biochemistry among the two groups. Low fat, high carbohydrate eaters have the perfect biological environment for obesity and type II diabetes. Their blood levels of glucose, insulin and triglycerides skyrocket. The Nurses’ Study by Harvard found that women who adhere to the Big Fat Scam and eat mostly carbohydrates increase their risk of diabetes 2.5 times! Men are not immune to the deadly carbohydrate effect. Diabetics usually die early from heart disease, twice as often as those without diabetes. It is so damaging that it can erase 11-20 years from a persons lifespan.
Currently, an estimated one in four American’s suffer from it. One in three born in the year 2000 will succumb to the Big Fat Scam and therefore suffer from diabetes according to The Journal of the American Medical Association.
Just keep in mind, that not all fats are created equal…Its is the difference in molecular structure that differentiates them. Our body loves saturated – primarily because EVERY CELL IS MADE UP OF THEM!

Shane,
You mention that omega 6 oils are “dangerous.” What about flax seed oil. It has a bunch of O3, O6 and O9 oils. I try to eat a tbl. spoon of it a day. Am I doing the right thing?
Thanks.
Brian.

Flax is fine…The trouble with corn oil and the omega 6 fats is the OVERDOSE…Its not so much the type of fat as it is the amount…Omega 6 are INFLAMMATORY and too much is, well…too much.
Cod liver oil is better than flax due to the amount of vitamin A, D and E along with the essential fatty acids!

Hi Shane and Lea- Ann: What is your opinion on raw coconut milk? I have a great raw coconut milk, agave nectar, cocoa powder and vanilla pudding recipe. My family loves it and I thought it was a great alternative to the traditional sugar version. Appreciate your thoughts.

Hi Shane-
I’ve been wondering about your opinion on honey, raw or otherwise, as well as molasses and Grade B Maple Syrup.
Are these ok as sweet alternatives?
Thanks.
