Chemist Applauds Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
As a father and a drug design chemist, I applaud the FDA’s ban on OTC cold medicines for those under the age of 6. This is among the best things that the government watchdog (sometimes Big Pharma lap dog) has done to protect consumer health. Historically, OTC meds have been abused by parents. Innocent children have been victims – thousands every year. The margin of error is very small thanks to the common active ingredients pseudoephedrine. Due to its amphetamine-like activity, the risk far exceeds benefit.
